How do I get there?
From M1/M6 northbound take the M42 and exit at Junction 10. From the M6 southbound exit at Junction 12 and approach Tamworth via A5. We are a 10 minute walk from Tamworth Train Station and 5 minutes from the bus station.

Eating / drinking?
We have a small kiosk in the Castle Grounds (at the base of the castle entrance slope) selling hot and cold drinks as well as a range of snacks such as chocolate, cakes and crisps. There are many cafes in the surrounding town ranging from Greggs and Subway to Wetherspoon's. There are no picnic facilities within the Castle, but plenty in the castle grounds.
Accessibility, wheelchairs and pushchairs:
Please note that the Castle has lots of steep stairs and narrow corridors, therefore pushchairs cannot be taken beyond reception or the Castle courtyard. Pushchairs can be left in reception. Please think carefully about leaving pushchairs in your car and finding alternative means of carrying very young children. For information about wheelchair access, please read our access page.
Is there any nearby accommodation?
There are several hotels in Tamworth such as The Castle Hotel just around the corner. There are also multiple national hotels such as Premier Inn, Travelodge and Holiday Inn, all short walks from the town centre. List of local accommodation.
We are coming as a large group, do we get a discount?
Advance pre-booked groups of 6 or more can get a discounted rate of £7.50 each (adult, child and OAP/concession). We also offer guided tours at £16 per person for a minimum of 15 people. For more information see our Guided Tour page.
What is there in the grounds for the kids?
There is an excellent play area for the kids in the castle grounds and also there are the bowling alley and SnowDome both nearby. There is a skate park, planet walk, tennis courts and bike hire also in the Castle Grounds.
