Tamworth Castle is one of the best preserved motte and bailey castles in England, with more than 900 years of history to explore through its many rooms, chambers and corridors.
It includes lots of new features, which allow you to immerse yourself in the past in a fun and interactive way for all the family, with lots of hands-on history, including dressing up, games and activities.
Step back in time
Explore the area's rich Anglo-Saxon heritage in the exciting 'Battle and Tribute' exhibition; sit around the fire in the mead hall, play a tabletop strategy game, discover pieces from the Staffordshire Hoard and learn all about how Tamworth was defended from Viking invasion.

Make a day of it
To really make a day of it, you can also visit the extensive Castle Grounds outside, complete with Victorian bandstand, adventure playground, river walks, tennis and bicycle hire, cafes, and a market town centre and large retail park just a short walk away.
The Castle Grounds are also home to a variety of entertainment throughout the year including festivals, fireworks, fairs and more.
